The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a new themed land in Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park. Its signature attraction, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, will take place inside Hogwarts Castle and will feature scenes from several Harry Potter books. Riders will travel via moving Kuka robot arms, mounted on an track.
As a huge Harry Potter fanatic, Muetti wanted to ride Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. But when I told her that it's a dark ride that throws her up, down, and speeds in directions but not turning her upside down, she lets me go solo on the single-rider line instead. Having been there twice, I feel that it's safe to compare the single-rider queue to the one on Test Track (over in Epcot) on a medium-busy day. But it's a must go, although you have to separate yourself from your party. Once on the ride, I experience a plethora of special effects and they were as close to real as a ride would get. The best part is the Forbidden Forest, where I encounter a lot of spiders that would make Ronald Weasley scream. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey a full-blown
Imagine a ride that blends the movie screen from Soarin, the vehicles from Sum of All Thrills, the track system from Haunted Mansion, audio-anamatronics, The moat fantastic queue since Expedition Everest, and a madcap spirit akin to The Amazing Adventure of Spiderman only without the 3D...essentially what you would get is Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. The plot here is that you are some of the first muggles to ever take a tour of THE Hogwarts Castle. Dumbledore has taken precautions to ensure that the recently revived Voldemorts powers cannot harm you. Sceduled to attend a lecture on Hogwarts History, Ron, Harry, and Hermoine interrupt to invite you to follow them to a quidditch match via a flying bench. Of Course, things don't go exactly as planned and before you know it you are running from escaped dragons and ghostly dementors on a one of a kind thrill ride never before seen. The movements of the bench you ride on help to cencrete the feeling of unstab;e flight and the anamatronics sampled here (especially the dementors) are top-notch. DO NOT MISS THIS ONE 10/10 PERFECTION -.
HE BEST THEME PARK RIDE IN THE WORLD, or at least Orlando. Disney has nothing on it, Universal keep up the good work, im not even a harry potter fan, ive seen like 1 movie thats it lol, - luis m
In some ways, this is a perfect ride, especially if you love all things Potter. But it is also annoying (or as my daughter said, Hermione is a terribly annoying distraction). It is certainly state-of-the-art, and amazingly "3-d" for a non-glasses ride. I would ride this every time I went to the park, if I was ever to go again which I won't because it's not worth the time and expense.
A continually flowing storyline, an elaborately themed queue, a great capacity, not a single moment of boredom, and the entire out-of-control feeling the whole ride provides easily makes this one of the most impressive rides in the world. A definite must ride, even when the wait time peaks an hour.
The wait time was a little much for me seeing as I always use express passes when visiting Islands of Adventure. There was two 6 or 7 years olds in my group of 8. We asked if it would be fine for them and cast members said they'll be fine. Boy were they lying. The little girls came off saying I thought I was going to die and all through the ride we shouted shut your eyes so the girls would not have monsters in their faces. However, the castle itself and the effects inside were phenomenal. Bravo to that.
